Hive Beetle Trap

These simple beetle traps are used to help control small hive beetle (SHB) within the hive. The traps are used by placing them as close to the corner of the honey super or top box of hive. Fill the trap with vegetable oil or diatomaceous earth.

The trap works by being a 'safe harbour' for the small hive beetle when they are being chased by the bees who do so to maintain an hygienic hive environment.

When combined with a large chux top spread across the top of the frames, it can be an effective way to keep the small hive beetle under control.
